The Six Golden Rules

Golden Rule #1:

Don't be in a hurry. Make sure that you sit down and think about what it is that you want to accomplish with your internet business before you try and run one.

Golden Rule #2:

Free is free. Money is not free and free has nothing to do with money. If you have been told that money is free and you have believed it you need to change that thought immediately. If you don't, free will show you it has nothing to do with money in a hurry. It is what you choose to do with free that can produce money.

Golden Rule #3:

Traffic is no guarantee for sales. Traffic is acquired, sales are made. If you are not prepared to personalize your process in some way, you will fail to make sales from any traffic you acquire. Traffic moves on that is what it does.

Golden Rule #4:

This will take more time than you have been told. Why? Because those that tell you that you can make a million dollars by tomorrow are trying to take your money and run. These hypesters are not willing to do what it takes to establish lasting success on the web and choose the ignoble path instead. This behavior will be marked by a general lack of moral character and an atmosphere of "hype". Be prepared to spend at least THREE MONTHS properly marketing your site with a well rounded strategy before you will see any meaningful targeted traffic. DO NOT quit your day job until you have exceeded the amount that you make at work. Work on this type of business at night after you get home from work until you can do it full time. It takes a lot of learning and a lot of dedication to master an income online. It is easy to SAY you are making money online. It is TONS harder to actually do so. It is NOT impossible, but the way there is VERY specific.

Golden Rule #5:

What you put into your business is what you will get out of your business; after all, it is your business. Starting a business is very much akin to having a child. In the very first stages, you must spend a great deal of time and money to start that child in the world correctly. As time goes on, you encounter decisions on resources that will determine what quality of experience that child will have as it continues to grow up. In the end, as it is time for that child to embark upon adulthood, if you have done your job as a parent correctly, that child will be successful on its own. If you feed and clothe your child with scraps and rags do not expect that child to be very strong or command respect in this world. So too, if you feed and clothe your business with inferior or empty resources, don't expect that business to garner much respect.

Golden Rule #6:

Your long term success will depend upon YOUR ability to develop relationships with your prospects. This will mean the ability to confidentially gather contact information from them and to not abuse that trust with just any old "ad blaster" that will slap them in the face and make them feel even more isolated than they already are. Community and the ability to develop or include yourself in one is the safest, most noble and reliable way to engage in E-commerce on the World Wide Web. If you can personalize prospects, you can make sales.
